1975 Jensen Healey

House Project

This Jensen Healey was purchased via eBay as a "daily driver". When we took possession, we were told that a recent incindent involving a broken cam timing belt had resulted in repairs being performed by a local mechanic. The Lotus 907 engine that came in these cars utilize what's known as an "interference head" - which results in bent valves if the limited-life (3 years or 15,000 miles) timing belt brakes. Unfortunately, whomever performed the repair apparently neglected to replace the affected valve guides - resulting in excessive smoking. The brakes also proved to be an issue due to an apparently faulty master cylinder. The floor pans are both rusted through, but could be patched rather requiring full replacement. Aside from some minor rust bubbles in rocker panels, the body is clean and straight.

The engine runs strong despite the oil smoke from the damaged valve guide(s). The 5-speed close-ratio transmission shifts smoothly and the rear axle is noise-free. The interior is in very nice shape for an unrestored car - showing some wood damage from age, but otherwise in very clean. The removable hardtop is in good condition, however we've not yet removed it to verify the condition of the soft top below.
