GALAXIE

2-Door "Box Top" Sedan

Client Project

With the addition of modern air conditioning, this Galaxie sedan required additional cooling. So, a custom Griffin aluminum radiator was designed to be installed inside the radiator core instead of behind it. Well, while waiting for the radiator to be manufactured, the owner found someone who could supply him with a TriPower carburetor setup (3 two-barrel Holleys). After installing this carburetor configuration, the rest of the engine really showed its age (cosmetically), so the project scope expanded to include a complete reconditioning of the engine compartment - including as much chrome, polished aluminum, stainless steel and JetHot coating as possible. Note the custom valve covers and air cleaner. These are one-of-a-kind items that were made to Midlife Classics' design specifications. They are gorgeous - and pricey. Want something like them for your ride? We can do it!

The entire engine bay was sodablasted clean of all paint, grease and grime. The only part of it that we couldn't strip was the firewall. The sodablaster only etched the surface. That's when we realized that it must have been coated with POR-15 in the past. Talk about tough! So, when it came time to repaint the engine compartment, we treated it to a couple of coats of POR-15's "BLACKCOAT" for a permanenthigh-gloss shine that will tolerate anything that could get spilled on it.
